OMSSA believes that increased investments in housing and the development of solutions
to the root causes of homelessness are essential to the achievement of healthy
sustainable communities.
OMSSA is committed to engaging senior orders of government in dialogue regarding
the design and delivery of policy and programs in the areas of social housing and services
to address homelessness. OMSSA understands that tackling the issues of social housing and
homelessness requires commitment from all orders of government, with the support of
community stakeholders.
To achieve this, OMSSA:
Analyses information, conducts surveys and develops position papers advocating for increased access to affordable, safe, adequate housing and increased services to address the root causes of homelessness.
Provides opportunities for its members to have input on policies and programs with the provincial and federal governments.
Is a partner with the Service Manager Housing Network which links social housing service managers across Ontario.
Collaborates with the Ontario Association of Hostels in training and education for service managers and service providers across the province.
Creates networking opportunities for service managers to share information, seek solutions to homelessness and increase the supply of social housing and needed support services.
OMSSA also provides information and professional development services to enable its members to deliver high quality services and to influence decision makers by being better informed and by developing skills in the planning, management and delivery of social housing and services for homeless people.
