This one day forum will provide an opportunity for CMSMs and DSSABs as Service Managers to come together to strategize about policy and program issues in the Housing Sector.  Through information sharing and facilitated dialogue we will look at how the changing role of Service Managers, Fiscal Environment, Provincial and Federal policy/programs and the Impact of Human Resource transitions across the sector.   

The Changing Role of Service System Managers

Dave Landers, Chief Administrative Officer, Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board

Dave will set the stage for the day’s discussion, considering the current fiscal and policy environment, how Service Managers are changing how they do business, managing change, increasing their tolerance for risk and exploring new roles in meeting the housing needs of their communities.

Modernizing Housing Delivery 

In this morning session, experienced Housing Leaders will discuss the potential of Modernization of the Housing System from a Provincial and a Community perspective. They will provide examples of how Service Managers and the province are collaborating to modernize the system and will consider how removing barriers has enabled communities to respond in new ways. Speakers will reflect on both current activities and plans for future actions to drive system change.

Service Managers and Local Housing Corporations – Redefining the Relationship

In a number of communities across Ontario, Service Managers and Local Housing Corporations are redefining their relationships in order to further the work of modernizing both their assets and their program activities. Housing Development Companies have emerged in some communities, while others are reorganizing their approach to future asset ownership. Learn how and why communities are making changes, as three communities share their path to future success.

Keynote Speaker

Christina Haddad, Regional Vice-President, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation

Christina Haddad is a seasoned Finance Executive with 25 years of extensive experience in (among other areas) default management, housing program delivery, housing market analysis and research information dissemination. Christina will provide an update from CMHC on the heels of the November 22nd release of the federal government report, "What We Heard" on the findings from the consultations on the National Housing Strategy. 

Planning Together: A Facilitated Dialogue & Workshop

This afternoon session will provide an opportunity for Service Managers to come together to strategize about policy and program issues in the Housing Sector. Delegates will engage in active dialogue to identify key issues in the sector and deliberate where Service Managers need to collaborate to move the agenda forward. Participants will work with facilitators to discuss key discussion topics, share concerns and present potential solutions.
