The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the ongoing maintenance, cleaning and preventative maintenance for YWCA Toronto housing sites.            

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Maintenance Coordinator’s responsibilities include: 

  • Ensures corrective and preventative maintenance and cleaning routines are completed;
  • performs regular site inspections and participates in annual building and unit inspections;
  • ensures that routine work orders are completed and monitors completion in the CMMS (computerized maintenance management system database);
  • ensures that units are prepared in a timely manner during changes in occupancy including inspecting the units, developing the scope of work, researching materials and products and assisting with obtaining quotes for the work if required;
  • works to ensure optimal work flow and quality by providing support and problem-solving to building maintenance staff;
  • supervises on-site contractors engaged in routine maintenance and special projects;
  • assists in ensuring compliance with the Ontario Fire Code (daily/weekly/monthly/ annual schedule);
  • reviews annual fire system inspection deficiencies and coordinates in house replacements/repairs;
  • ensures compliance with WHMIS, The Ontario Building Code, Ontario Health And Safety Act, Residential Tenancies Act, Elevating Devices Act and any other relevant legislation;
  • ensures that all appropriate logs and records are kept up to date including fire safety logs, material safety data sheets, snow/de-icing log, valve tags, service records, roof anchor inspection results/drawings and any other records required by legislation;
  • monitors site safety practices and participates in emergency procedures and drills;
  • travels regularly between sites;
  • other duties as required.
  • assists in planning and monitors budgets within the scope of the position ensures that the Health and Safety Guidelines are followed in accordance with the policies and procedures of YWCA Toronto; 

You will have:

  • General knowledge of technical discipline normally acquired through completion of a college diploma in a field relevant to property services;
  • 3-5 years’ experience in building management and trades;
  • 1-3 years’ experience in leading staff and monitoring performance;
  • knowledge of building systems including knowledge of repair methodologies;
  • experience using tools and equipment;
  • ability to lift 25 kilograms;
  • excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills;
  • knowledge of computer systems including Word, Excel, Internet, email, computerized maintenance management systems;
  • experience managing property & equipment budgets;
  • must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license;
  • WHMIS Certificate;
  • fire safety training.

The hours of work for this position are 35 hours per week Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm. The salary for this position is $48,933 per annum (Level 6), plus comprehensive benefits.
