Senior Financial Analyst #22336

Location: Newmarket, Ontario. This is a Union position.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 35; Scheduled Shifts: 0830 - 1630

Temporary Full-Time, Approx. 24 months, Salary $48.99 - $53.24 per hour 

Reporting to the Director, Program Finance and CFO, is responsible for financial activities and tasks supporting housing programs and services, including developing and implementing complex automated solutions to produce financial  reports, developing financial reporting models that support new business opportunities and performance indicators, preparation of operating and capital budgets and contributing to business planning initiatives, preparation of Ministry reporting requirements and providing financial and analytical support to management staff in Housing Services.

Qualifications 

  • Successful completion of a University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of the Chartered Professional Accountant designation program (CPA) and registration with the appropriate Ontario Association.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience, including three years at a senior level, with responsibility for financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial and management reporting, and experience utilizing computerized enterprise-wide financial software (e.g. Yardi).
  • Knowledge of budgeting processes to prepare budgets, monitor expenditure patterns and make recommendations to address financial constraints.
  • Working knowledge of financial management systems in a municipal or corporate setting.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant provincial legislation.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to identify problems, interpret data and develop recommendations for a wide range of financial and management reporting obligations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with Regional staff and external contacts.
  • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications with proficiency in word processing, financial software application and advanced ability using spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment on complex problems, manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
