CLIENT SERVICES DIVISION 

ONE (1) PERMANENT FULL-TIME POSITION EXISTS

POSITION SUMMARY:       

Under the direction of the Manager of Client Services, the Supervisor of Intake supervises staff in the delivery of services and programs to ensure that they are delivered in a responsible and cost-effective manner in accordance with established policies and procedures. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Coordinate activities and train and direct section staff in the intake area including physical and telephone reception, eligibility and other support services
  • Identify and communicate staffing needs and participate in recruitment as require
  • Supervise assigned staff including performance management activities
  • Monitor and assess quality and timeliness of service delivery and report as require
  • Ensure consistent quality and timeliness of service and make recommendations to the Client Services Manager concerning operating procedures and standard practices
  • Address and resolve staff member concerns or issues and escalate to Manager when required
  • Research, develop and compile statistical reports as required
  • Liaise with community professionals and outside agencies regarding delivery of programs and services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS:       

Education/Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in business administration, Social Work or related discipline together with a minimum of three years of experience in the human services field
  • Supervisory experience preferably  in a unionized environment 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Strong knowledge of acts, regulations, policies and programs related to a variety of municipal, provincial and federal social assistance programs and ability to interpret related acts, regulations and policies
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with subordinates, co-workers, and the general public
  • Strong leadership skills together with the ability to motivate staff
  • Superior  problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency with office computer equipment and MS Office software
  • Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

  • The use of a vehicle may be required
  • Must undergo a successful police records check, Type II
