County of Dufferin, Program Assistant

This position is responsible to complete complex and confidential administrative duties related to departmental operations. These duties include investigation, assembling reports and collection of data for planning purposes.

Dufferin County Community Services is currently recruiting for a 

PROGRAM ASSISTANT

(6 Month Contract) 

This position is responsible to complete complex and confidential administrative duties related to departmental operations.  These duties include investigation, assembling reports and collection of data for planning purposes. 

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Screening applications for Community Services programs.
  • Preparing new files for applicants and withdraw existing files.
  • Making appropriate referrals.
  • Sorting and distributing incoming mail.
  • Answering telephone inquiries from clients.
  • Responding to agency inquiries.
  • Monitoring, stocking and distribution of office supplies.
  • Provide assistance with monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Preferred qualifications are as follows:

  • Community College Diploma or equivalent in a Human Services field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an administrative capacity preferably in a municipal government.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a demonstrated ability to deal professionally with clients, other social service agencies and housing providers.
  • Exceptional computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to perform effectively in busy and stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of local range of services, opportunities and supports available.
