Policy Analyst

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

  • Undertake policy analysis and develop a range of policy products and supports, including workplans, to support the successful implementation of the Moving on Mental Health system transformation initiative
  • Identify impact on and support stakeholders through active stakeholder engagement and change management activities
  • Provide advice on a range of topics related to transformation, and prepare materials for senior management
  • Collect, analyze, develop and evaluate policy/program information
  • Conduct research and analysis of emerging trends and inter-jurisdiction comparison
  • Participate on projects and working groups

How do I qualify?

Knowledge and Experience with Policy Development

  • You have experience with policy development in order to conceptualize, develop, and analyze policies
  • You can prepare policy options and ensure recommendations are aligned with program mandate and strategic direction
  • You have knowledge of research methodology, survey and data collection techniques, environmental scans, comparative analysis, inter-jurisdictional research, modelling, forecasting, and data analysis
  • You understand government decision-making and approval processes and have strategic planning and organizational skills in order to coordinate policy activities
  • You have a general understanding of issues, trends, and legislation related to child and youth services as well as the mental health system

Oral and Written Communication Skills

  • You have experience preparing and presenting policy recommendations in a clear and concise manner
  • You are able to draft business cases, communications materials, correspondence, and reports

Problem-Solving Skills, Political Acuity, and Judgement

  • You can anticipate/manage issues and negotiate and resolve concerns
  • You are able to respond to the needs of stakeholders and to shifting government priorities
  • You can manage to deadlines and competing interests and/or sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy

Relationship Management, Interpersonal, Facilitation, and Consultation Skills

  • You have the demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with senior management and stakeholders
  • You can promote collaboration across organizational boundaries in order to reach consensus
  • You have project management skills and can work effectively within a team environment

Salary Range:$61,397 - $85,839 per year
