Duties

  • This position reports to the Manager of Child Care. The Early Years Coordinator will oversee effective implementation of the EarlyON Plan for the City of Stratford, Perth County and the Town of St. Marys. This includes responsibility for service delivery, evaluation, marketing and ensuring public input in all aspects of the service system.
  • This positon will focus on achieving compliance with Provincial directions and guidelines, with the goal of ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and their families within the local service area.
  • In collaboration with the Manager, supports the Consolidated Municipal Service Manager role and responsibility for service planning and delivery of EarlyON Child and Family programs.
  • Work with input from local Children Services Network(s) to coordinate Early ON programs in Perth County.
  • Provide leadership to community programs and committees in a clear, concise manner.
  • Develop research and experienced based policies and procedures for Early Years programs, and make ongoing recommendations for the revision of policies and procedures.
  • Prepare recommendations for funding allocations and Purchase of Service Agreements.
  • Promote pedagogy and standards as established by the Ministry, ensure agencies are following guidelines, and support adaptions to meet compliance requirements.
  • Develop program marketing strategies.
  • Evaluate programs and service system delivery in Perth County.
  • Support the Early Years and Child Care Division as a member of KidsFirst and other community committees.
  • Draft annual report and prepare or present statistical information as required.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree (4 year) in Early Childhood Education/Education/ Sociology/Psychology/
  • Community Services or relevant field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years related professional experience.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (Class G).
  • Successful Criminal Reference Check (vulnerable sector).
  • Member (RECE) in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators or Teachers College.
  • Skills in program and budget monitoring, quality control, community needs assessment, data analysis and policy development.
  • Participate as an effective team member.
  • Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Testing will form part of the qualifications.
