Compassion Fatigue affects us personally and professionally as they work with persons in need. Overtime it will have detrimental effects to our health and well-being.  Many do not know what is happening or why as they have never been given the tools to mitigate the symptoms of Compassion Fatigue.  

This interactive two day session not only defines and assesses your Compassion Fatigue, but as well gives the learners tools in order to deal with it. 

By the end of training the learner will be able to:

o    Define and know the differences between of Compassion Fatigue, PTSD, Burn Out and Vicarious Trauma

o    Recognize signs and symptoms as well as Physiological and Psychological effects of Compassion Fatigue

o    Identify basics of crisis response

o    Identify their own level of Compassion Fatigue through an Assessment

o    Build Resilience and a Healthy Well Being Plan

o    Locate Resources

About the facilitator:

Jamie Tyrell has been in the social services field for over 15 years; starting his career a case manager with the Ontario Works program for the City of Cornwall.  Jamie has also worked with the Province of Ontario helping implement new technology and business transformation for front line staff with the Ministry of Community and Social Services.  He has worked with school boards and high-risk youth in identifying how involve multiple agencies working together to offer students the tools to help them achieve their grade 12 diploma while dealing with addiction issues, teen pregnancy, crime, mental health and ‘falling through the cracks’. 

A certified Compassion Fatigue Educator from the TEND Academy, a trainer with Ontario Municipal Social Service Association (OMSSA), as well as a trainer focusing on relationship management, managing change and team building.   Jamie is a natural speaker and brings an array of experiences, humour, knowledge and resources to those participating in his sessions.

Cancellation and Sharing Policies :

Cancellation and Sharing Policy: Requests for refunds will be honoured, less a $50.00 administration fee, provided a written notice of cancellation and request for refund is received more than ten (10) business days prior to the event. When cancellation is received ten business days or less, no monies will be refunded. Persons who register but do not attend and fail to provide notice of cancellation are not eligible for a refund. Substitutions will be accepted up to and including the first day of the event. OMSSA reserves the right to cancel the program due to insufficient registrations and will be responsible for refunding the registration fee only. Registrants are advised not to make any non-refundable travel or accommodation arrangements until confirmation of the session is received in writing by OMSSA.
