As we look to better integrate human service in local communities, case planning and case management become increasingly complex. Whether it is coordinating services, accessing resources, undertaking advocacy for the people with whom we work or coaching them, our need to be more fully aware of the larger system in which services are delivered grows. 

Attendees at this workshop will:

This one-day session will focus on the skill and knowledge sets necessary for effective case management in an increasingly integrated human services environment.

  • Explore a holistic approach to case planning and documentation with practical steps to follow back at the workplace
  • Review Models of Operation and how it impacts the work you do
  • Review common written documentation standards  

Who should attend:

This course will be of particular use and interest to people who are currently case managing or for staff in workplaces where case management has been identified as a tool for supporting improved integration of services, at both the front line and the supervisory levels.

About the facilitator:

Jamie Tyrell has been in the social services field for over 15 years; starting his career a case manager with the Ontario Works program for the City of Cornwall.  Jamie has also worked with the Province of Ontario helping implement new technology and business transformation for front line staff with the Ministry of Community and Social Services.  He has worked with school boards and high-risk youth in identifying how involve multiple agencies working together to offer students the tools to help them achieve their grade 12 diploma while dealing with addiction issues, teen pregnancy, crime, mental health and ‘falling through the cracks’.

Cancellation and Sharing Policies :

Cancellation and Sharing Policy: Requests for refunds will be honoured, less a $50.00 administration fee, provided a written notice of cancellation and request for refund is received more than ten (10) business days prior to the event. When cancellation is received ten business days or less, no monies will be refunded. Persons who register but do not attend and fail to provide notice of cancellation are not eligible for a refund. Substitutions will be accepted up to and including the first day of the event. OMSSA reserves the right to cancel or change the session due to insufficient registrations or inclement and will be responsible for refunding the registration fee only. Registrants are advised not to make any non-refundable travel or accommodation arrangements until confirmation of the session is received in writing by OMSSA.
