This is your opportunity to work with the Ontario Works legislation, applying it to case studies in preparation for carrying out an investigation from the initial receipt of the tip/information to the final outcome.

What you will learn:

    • Guides and tips that are useful when conducting an investigation
    • Reviewing the differences between civil proceedings and provincial offences prosecutions
    • The criminal prosecution process and outcomes
    • Use of discretion when deciding upon the pursuit of a judicial outcome

This course is designed for new and more experienced EROs, supervisors and frontline staff.

Facilitator Information:

Cathy Brown has been employed by Grey County Social Services since 1989 and has been an Eligibility Review Officer for the past 16 years. In collaboration with OMSSA, she developed and has been facilitating the ERO Core Curriculum since its inception in 2005.

Cancellation and Sharing Policy: Requests for refunds will be honoured, less a $50.00 administration fee, provided a written notice of cancellation and request for refund is received more than ten (10) business days prior to the event. When cancellation is received ten business days or less, no monies will be refunded. Persons who register but do not attend and fail to provide notice of cancellation are not eligible for a refund. Substitutions will be accepted up to and including the first day of the event. OMSSA reserves the right to cancel the program due to insufficient registrations and will be responsible for refunding the registration fee only. Registrants are advised not to make any non-refundable travel or accommodation arrangements until confirmation of the session is received in writing by OMSSA.
