OW Directives and SAMS Introduction: The Basics
In this workshop, participants will focus on refreshing their knowledge of Ontario Works and SAMS after returning from leave or transfer from another social services department.
Living with Parents & Post-Secondary and Temporary Care
We will examine Directives, OW Regulations, Clearinghouses and SAMS technology on living with parent circumstances where eligibility exists for two benefit unit families.
As well as the application of OW Directives as they relate to post-secondary and temporary care scenarios, through two hands-on case studies.
Emergency Assistance: Supporting Stability Supports
In this workshop, we will examine the application of OW Directives, OW Regulations, Clearinghouses and SAMS technology related to Emergency Assistance.

In this workshop, participants will focus on the ODSP referral process.
Family Violence and Refugee Sponsorship Supports: Calculating Assistance
In this workshop, participants will focus on the Directives and Clearinghouses related to eligibility criteria of cases deemed as sponsored and obligations of sponsorship support.
Singles and Couples Under 18: Establishing Special Circumstances
In this workshop, participants will focus on eligibility for singles and couples under 18 cases that have special circumstances.
Disposition of Assets: Impact on Eligibility
In this workshop, participants will focus on asset limits, conversion or liquidation of assets.
Outcome Performance: Participation Planning and Additional Benefits
In this workshop, participants will focus on their knowledge of employment outcomes and the impact on local CMSM/DSSAB budget performance.
Compensation Settlements: Assignment of Benefits and Shelter Maximums
In this workshop, participants will focus on a case study that discusses a motor vehicle accident and settlement for economic and non-economic financial losses.
Self-Employment: Establishing and Monitoring Eligibility
This new workshop provides a simpler yet comprehensive self-employment path teaching case workers and clients about quick assessments, reasonable expenses aligned to standard Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) principles and simplicity on workbook goals, setting milestones and developing outcome plans.
