2025 Policy Conference

Only a few months into 2025 it was clear the year would be marked by significant change; from election uncertainty to the growing reality of trade disruptions, social, and economic instability would exacerbate already rising service demands. Fast forward to now and the current environment has piled pressure onto Ontario’s social safety net and the vital work of OMSSA Members.

Importantly, 2025 has also emerged as a year where Ontarians (and Canadians, more broadly) have been asked to reflect deeply about who we are and what defines us. But what does such reflection mean for OMSSA and its Members?  

This year marks OMSSA’s 75th anniversary, an important milestone that comes at a pivotal time for the sector. With the social services sector facing old and new challenges, it is time to reevaluate, reaffirm, and rethink the work and role that OMSSA Members play in the sector. The 2025 Policy Conference will offer an opportunity to hear from experts who can help us think through this time of change and allow us to plot a clear direction forward.   

The OMSSA Policy Conference is the premier event in Ontario for understanding emerging community and social issues in the province, and how the these connect to municipal social services policy and advocacy priorities. To that end, this year’s Conference will once again include timely discussions in housing, homelessness, children’s services, and social assistance, as well as important presentations on leadership and strategy in the broader social services sector.
